I should clarify the last point.  Any professional editing suite is going to
have to maintain compatibility with tape based editing techniques - there
are too many people out there trained to think that way. I would go as far a to call that compatibility a minimum functionality for something calling
itself a video editor.  There are other ways of doing things though.  The
design of Cinellera is probably appropriate for it's time.  When Cinelerra
was designed you could hardly call anything other than tape
"well established".  Unfortunately time and expectations have moved on,
and that is what you are seeing in these comments.
