Hi Bruno,

Your computer should be reasonable for editing, so you may just need
to change some of the preferences in cinelerra to get better results.
Settings/Preferences/Playback under video out make sure that "play
every frame" and "decode frames asynchronously" are both not checked.
Unselecting "view follows playback" may also help, and changing the
video driver may make a big difference. Try both X11-XV and X11-OpenGL
to see which is better.

Also the codec that your source material is encoded with could be
significant. You could try with DV and motion-jpeg to see if they are
any better.
