[CinCVS] cinlerra install

I have not been able to get cinelerra to install in ubuntu studios i386 with synaptic. click applications, sound video, shows an icon for it but it won't open. And it shows as installed in synaptic. In add/remove it does not show up as installed? Has anyone been able to install this way. doug
