I agree on the customization aspect.

While I like the scientific accuracy of seeing the true nine sites you
visit most frequently, there's some statistical bias involved.

Consider if cnn.com is in your top 9, but you've been enjoying BBC
News more than CNN recently. Just because CNN is so conveniently
accessed from the New Tab page, you might visit it more often even
though you have a slight preference for BBC.

Therefore BBC could remain on the cusp of "Top 9" status for a very
long time - potentially never making the New Tab page.

My suggestion is to include screenshots of your top 9, but also text
links for the next 6 (or however many). I, personally, would find this
much more useful than the "Recent Bookmarks" feature, which I've never
used in my life. Not sure if I'm alone in this.

"Recent Bookmarks" are not necessarily sites I'm going to visit with
frequency after bookmarking. Oftentimes they're just sites that I
don't want to forget exist, or that I want to store away for
exploration at some future date.
