I don't think that it's a good idea. Safari's top sites does looks much fancy than Chrome's most visited page, but it also takes more memory and cpu resource. Keeping Chrome be a small and efficient browser is better. However if someone can create a add-on or extension in the future, to repalce the original one, will be a good idea.
