Open device manager and look under comm ports. That should tell you which chip is in the cable you're using, but more importantly what port it's on.

If you've done this already - you don't say - then check and make sure you have the correct UV-82 selected.

I have a brand new baofeng UV-82 but can not get the program to recognize it. I keep getting an error message “can not open port”. I have downloaded the lasted version of the program. Any ideas? Using windows 10 on pc.
