If you're doing a parallel build you may want to limit it to 1/2 to 2/3 of the total number of cores/CPUs/whatever. Having said that gcc220 is listed as having a suspiciously large amount of memory (more memory than disk space, is there a moved decimal point there?), so if that's actually physical memory present it could be a ulimit issue.
