have you tried something like that in <alt><f2>

xfreerdp /u:USER /p:PASSWORD /w:1200 /h:600 /v:SERVER-ADDRESS

Yes, I have. The problem is it leaves the unencrypted passwords in my history.
Other than that, Xfreerdp seems to work fine.
