I was/am beginning to look into this subject but had not advanced much
due to lack of time. This appears to be a good thing : I better take
this new stuff as starting point.

BTW don't you think "abandoned" is a somewhat strong term ? We've just
done a gcc 4.4 based release. Pedro has upgraded our binutils and mingw.
I've been doing gdb work but the gdb crowd is telling me to turn left
this week and right the next. And the stuff you're referring to is all
of three days old :-)
