The goal is to maintain two FreeBSD packages: One based on cde-2.3.2, your official release. The other, a development package, based on an arbitrary GIT hash, with a few extra patches, updated more frequently. This allows adventurous users, such as myself and one other FreeBSD developer to use a later codebase, submitting patches or opening issues as we use it. I think at this point it's more me thinking out loud.
