Sorry to drip-feed this, but https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/Rescuing_Floppy_Disks is a useful source on comparing various methods. It's clear that this type of interface has particularly strong support on Apple due to their previous use of non-IBM formats, and Amiga is also quite common (I think that's where greaseweazle started).
