All of a sudden I remember an article from a DEC internal spoof of an actual
DEC publication. The publication was called "the small buffer" and the spoof
was "the variable length node".

It had stuff like an SPD for VMS support of a CSS device, the sundial
interface. Early chapters of "CPU Wars" appeared there.

And it had a software product announcement for "RUNON" -- a product that would
expand text to make it more impressive looking. It could expand by 50% for
team memos, 200% for messages to the VP, and 1000% for reports to government
agencies.

"As an installation validation test, RUNON will generate a memo justifying its
purchase price."
