The original rule, back around ’96/97 was anything older than 10 years was on-topic. I think the idea behind that is still valid, but these days a 10 year old system isn’t that much different from a current one. I think at one point someone suggested it should be shifted to 20+ years.

Many have argued that any specific "rule" would merely result in arguments about the exact boundary. I thought that the "10 year rule", (if it was ever official or acknowledged) advanced every year, so that now it would be about 40 years.
If so, then by now, even the Osborne 1 (WCCF 1981), the 5150 (August/11/1981), and the Kaypro (WCCF 1982) are all now On-Topic.
