I don't know what circuitry there is or is not in the expansion base. Whatever the case, it is not required for SCSI operation. I have had no problems plugging one end of a 50 way ribbon cable into the 50 pin IDC socket on the motherboard and the other end into a SCSI disk. Regards, Peter Coghlan.
