I guess they are trying to put it in one room and not have two separated room stacked.

There's also the fact that having an open tile on a 6' (or taller) raised floor is considerably more dangerous than something much shorter.

But the typical 12" raised floors I've had to deal with are... unpleasant.

I'm used to 2' (24") raised floors.
