You might consider just adding another storage controller. I'd recommend something that talks MSCP. SCSI seems to be what most people are after nowadays, but ESDI controllers are much cheaper, and the drives aren't that hard to find. If you have SMD drives kicking around already, there are SMD MSCP interfaces that also work well. I've had excellent luck with Emulex MSCP controllers.
