They're lonely - just want somebody to talk to. (Really, that is a JOKE I am making.) But.... One time (just barely pre 9/11/2001, IIRC) we were headed South to Montana after a couple of weeks in Canada, and crossed the border at a relatively quiet border crossing. The Canadian side folks talked to us a pretty long time - we really did wonder if they just wanted someone to talk to. Took, maybe, 15 minutes The US side - maybe 20 *seconds*. JRJ
