Yeah, but the TIP31A part is cheap, and is free air mounted on its leads - it isn't screwed down. I'd rather do the repair nicely. Anyway, it gave me an excuse to order a 750 ohm resistor so that replacement matches, instead of the 2 x 1.5K parallel pair I had put in. JRU
