Now, the IBM machine you (or someone) should _really_ do is the IBM Stretch (7030); although judged a commercial failure at the time, in retrospect it's clearly one of the most ground-breaking designs of all time. (In fact, I have a hard time coming up with other machines with the same level of impact/influence, in terms of CPU internal architecture. Maybe Atlas, or the 801?) Noel
