Given that it’s April 1st, I’m gonna say you should just autoclave it.

Or more seriously, back in the day we used to use 0.05% sodium azide, which 
kept the bugs at bay pretty well. Obviously this can be problematic for heme 
proteins, but in general it’s worth considering.
