Happy Monday folks,
I would like to draw your attention to another Request for Information
from the NIH. Here is a link to the place you can write your ideas:
https://www.research.net/r/NRRs_and_Biomedical_Technology_Optimization_and_Dissemination
It closes tomorrow, but it fairly quick. This time they are asking you
about centralized technology resources that you wish did exist, but
currently don't. Examples of existing ones are listed here:
https://www.nigms.nih.gov/Research/mechanisms/Pages/R24-Funded-Resources---Structural-Biology.aspx
which includes the Phenix Suite, DIALS, and the Buffalo crystallization
center, to name a few.
Full list, including non-structural biology things are here:
https://reporter.nih.gov/search/81WoZSUDr0O6Sst4Ts8kig/projects?shared=true
You can find out more about the funding opportunities here:
https://www.nigms.nih.gov/grants/Pages/btod.aspx
https://www.nigms.nih.gov/Research/mechanisms/Pages/NIGMS-National-and-Regional-Resources-(R24).aspx
Think about the resources you'd like to have in your lab, but are too
big, too expensive, or too rare. If other labs are in the same
predicament, then you have a good argument for a shared resource.
Examples that come to my mind are: fragment screening, AI/ML data
analysis, and, of course, synchrotrons. But synchrotrons already exist!
They are looking for resources that are not currently on the list.
