I had the pleasure of editing and accepting an article that Alexei Vagin and his colleague Alexei Teplyakov submitted to the International Tables for Crystallography Volume F (2nd edition) on the Molrep software. I'm sorry to hear the news and extend my condolences to all who knew him.
