A postdoctoral position is immediately available at the Paul Scherrer Institute
in the group of Dr. Richard A. Kammerer. The successful candidate will have a
strong background in recombinant protein production and the biochemical and
biophysical characterization of proteins. Expertise in X-ray crystallography
and/or experience with membrane proteins is desirable. We look for a motivated
individual who enjoys team work in a lab environment.
Our lab is interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying botulinum
neurotoxin action, in particular the interaction between the toxin and its host
cell receptor, toxin translocation and substrate specificity. To study these
processes, we use X-ray crystallography, biochemical and biophysical methods
and in vivo functional studies. For a publication representing our work, please
see Benoit et al., Structural basis for recognition of synaptic vesicle protein
2C by botulinum neurotoxin A. Nature, 2014, 505, 108-111. More information can
be obtained from Dr. R. A. Kammerer.
Candidates with a proven track record in international journals are encouraged
to apply to Dr. Richard A. Kammerer, OFLC/106, Forschungsstrasse 111, Paul
Scherrer Institute, 5232 Villigen, Switzerland, e-mail: richard.kamme...@psi.ch
