Dear all, We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in structural biology and an interest in genome maintenance and circadian clocks.
Here is the advertisement for the position: Postdoc position in Structural Biology at JGU/IMB Mainz, Germany A postdoc position is available in the group of Eva Wolf at the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) and the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) in Mainz, Germany. The position is available for a period of 4 years. Salary will be according to German public service payment agreement (TV-L 13; 100%). Research in the Wolf group is focused on the structural, biochemical and biophysical analysis of protein complexes involved in circadian clocks (e.g. Czarna et al, Cell 2013; Schmalen et al, Cell 2014) and in their interconnection to genome maintenance, specifically via the protein Timeless. Following up on our Cryo-EM structure of a mammalian Timeless–Tipin-RPA complex (Witosch et al, NAR 2014), this project aims at 3D-structures of Timeless complexes with replication fork associated proteins and their subsequent biological validation, e.g. in mutational studies. It will involve a wide range of techniques including recombinant protein expression (E.coli, insect cells), protein purification, Cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography as well as complementary biochemical, biophysical and cell-based methods to study protein interactions and activities. The successful postdoc candidate will have solid practical experience in Cryo-EM and/or X-ray crystallography, in recombinant protein expression (preferentially insect cells and E.coli) and in protein purification (preferentially purification of protein complexes). Additional practical experience with biochemical and quantitative biophysical analyses of protein interactions is an advantage. She/he will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and be fluent in English (written and spoken). The Wolf group is currently located at the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB, www.imb.de<http://www.imb.de>). IMB is a center for basic research, which is generously funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is located on the campus of Mainz University, Germany. To apply, please send a single PDF file containing your cover letter stating research interests and expertise, a CV, scanned certificates and contact details of at least two references to sek...@uni-mainz.de<mailto:sek...@uni-mainz.de> before January 29th 2019. Informal enquires should be addressed to Eva Wolf (evawo...@uni-mainz.de<mailto:evawo...@uni-mainz.de>). The additional application to the IMB Postdoc Programme (IPPro, post...@imb.de<mailto:post...@imb.de>, www.imb.de/postdocs) is encouraged.
