Scientist, Structural Biology Job Responsibilities/Department Description: We are seeking a Scientist to join our Boston-area structural biology group conducting drug design research in diverse therapeutic areas. Our group integrates with multidisciplinary project teams to accelerate drug discovery on innovative and challenging targets. Responsibilities include construct design, development and optimization of protein purification protocols, purification and characterization of crystallization-grade and cryo-EM-grade protein, as well as crystal screening and optimization. A scientist with structure solution and interpretation skills will solve novel structures and drive drug design workflows. A scientist with membrane protein experience would have an opportunity to drive projects in this field in conjunction with leading academic partners. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and must bring curiosity and a desire to make an impact in the workplace. Basic Qualifications: PhD in Biochemistry or a related field (Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, etc.) and 2+ years of experience in protein expression, purification, crystallization and characterization for structural studies, or BS degree and 8+ years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive track record with purification and crystallization of challenging proteins, e.g., membrane proteins. Experience with biophysical characterization (stability and binding assays) and structure determination. Industrial experience.
