PhD positions in biochemistry/structural biology/computational modeling available at the Biochemistry Department of the University Bayreuth/Germany
we study sequence-structure-function relationships with the goal of rationally designing robust and functional proteins. On the one hand we investigate the evolution of protein folds to learn about the basis of protein stability, on the other we use computational design methods to build proteins with new functionalities. Subsequently we test our models in the lab. Current projects range from de novo protein design to the changing of ligand binding specificities, in which we combine computational approaches with protein biochemistry and structural biology. We are looking for highly motivated students who are enthusiastic about working in a multidisciplinary and international team. Applications including a letter of motivation, CV and names/contact of two references should be send to Birte Höcker preferably by email as a single pdf (birte.hoec...@uni-bayreuth.de <mailto:birte.hoec...@uni-bayreith.de>).
