Job Description

Summary:
Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Europe) Ltd has an immediate opening for a talented 
membrane protein structural biologist in the Structural Biology and Biophysics 
group at our UK site (Abingdon, Oxfordshire).

The major role of the person will be to produce and study human membrane 
proteins to support small molecule drug discovery. The individual should have 
experience with Cryo-EM and/or protein crystallography. The position requires a 
broad background in structural biology with a focus on integral membrane 
proteins. In addition, candidates should have a solid basic knowledge of 
chemistry and/or biochemistry. Excellent communication skills are required as 
is a strong ability to work in a team. Previous experience in the 
pharmaceutical industry would be considered an asset.

Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or equivalent degree), or
MS (or equivalent degree) and scientific experience, or
BS (or equivalent degree) and significant scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven track record of academic accomplishments (i.e., peer-reviewed 
publications and/or patents).
Experience in the expression/purification of membrane proteins.
Proficient at solving Cryo-EM structures using single particle analysis.
Experience with solving crystal structures of membrane proteins.
