Dear all,
a 2-year postdoctoral position funded by the ANR (the French National
Agency for Research) is available at the Structural Microbiology Unit at
the Institut Pasteur in Paris.
Our team has been working on the regulation of central metabolism in
Mycobacteria, with particular emphasis on the role of GarA, an
FHA-domain protein that turned out to act as a regulator of a few
central metabolic enzymes - a control level that seems to be unique to
the Actinobacteria phylum. The project in which the postdoctoral fellow
will be enrolled aims at isolating from the source organism (top-down
approach) and/or reconstructing in vitro (bottom-up) a central metabolic
'supercomplex' from Corynebacterium glutamicum, and possibly the
non-pathogenic Mycobacterium smegmatis, in order to characterize it by
an integrated structural biology approach (X-ray crystallography, SAXS,
cryo-EM).
The lab is fully equipped for recombinant protein expression and
purification and interacts closely with a number of facilities (e.g.
crystallography, macromolecular biophysics, microscopy) providing access
to state-of-the-art equipment and located a few steps within the
institute campus. Regular access (on a monthly basis) is also available
to MX and SAXS beamlines, both at the Soleil and ESRF synchrotrons.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and self-motivated PhD with a
strong background in protein biochemistry, and experience in dealing
with multi-subunit macromolecular complexes. Familiarity with SAXS
and/or cryo-EM would be an asset. The position will be available from
March 2014, although the starting date may be arranged.
If interested, please send a CV with your publication list and detailed
research experience (including contacts of a couple of referees) by
*November 15* to marco.bellinzoni at pasteur.fr.
Best,
Marco
