The protein crystallography unit at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, headed by Prof Jamie Rossjohn, ARC Federation Fellow, seeks talented scientists to join his group. There are two Research Fellow positions within the structural immunology group. The main focus of the group is to understand structural basis of immune responses central to adaptive and innate immunity. The Research Fellows should have a PhD and knowledge of structural biology and protein crystallography. There are two positions available within this group, at the research fellow/ research assistant level. The project is focused on rational structure-based drug design of protein kinase inhibitors in collaboration with an Industry Partner, Cytopia, and will lead to the creation of therapeutics to combat cancer and immune related disorders. For the Research Fellow position, the successful candidates will have a PhD in Biological Sciences and a background in Protein Crystallography. For the Research assistant position, a background in basic molecular biology and biochemistry is essential. Appointment will be made at a level appropriate to the successful applicant’s qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification standards for each level. A PhD scholarship in the field of infection within the ARC Centre of Functional and Structural Genomics is available. The project will involve the investigation of proteins involved in infectious diseases. The scholarship is for 3 years, at a stipend equivalent to Australian Postgraduate Award rates. Applicants should have a science/biomedical degree, ideally with first class honours (or H1 equivalent). All research fellowship/ RA positions available for 1 year in the first instance.
