Hi,
The problem may be related to a file that CCP4 use to extract the necessary
fonts to display the CCP4 contents. That file is not available when you upgrade
the operating system from FC5 to FC6 or FC7 (It upgraded to a higher version).
The file is libstdc++.so.5 (or a similar version like libstdc++.so.5.0.7) which
can be found in usr/lib/ directory. To the best of my knowledge CCP4 program
version 6.0.2 needs that file to be in version 5 (or it should contain the
necessary fonts).
The easiest way to solve the problem is to copy that file (or its nearest
version to 5) from older version of Fedora core and copy it to the new FC6 or
FC7 usr/lib directory and rename it as libstdc++.so.5 (you need to login as
root in order to be able to paste the file into usr/lib/ folder).
After copying the file, run the BINARY.setup from CCP4 folder (better to login
as a user who installed the CCP4) and then run the CCP4 program. If all the
other installation files are OK, the problem should be fixed.

Hello CCP4bb,
We recently upgraded the OS on our computer from FC 5 to FC 6. We had
CCP4-6.0.2 preinstalled on the computer. Since the upgrade, we are facing
problems in running the CCP4 programs. The gui opens normally, but while
running any program, following error pops up when any file is attempted to
open:
CCP4i encountered an error when trying to extract the data from
/home/uma/cal_iodine/n_i.mtz
you can view the output file from the mtzdump program which may give an
indication of the problem. otherwise you should dismiss this window.
When the mtzdump file is tried to oepn, following messages pop up:
ERROR extracting data from /home/uma/cal_iodine/n_i.mtz
and
Error: can't read "array(HKLIN)": no such element in array.
Any suggestions to rectify this problem? Do I need to install the CCP4 package
again?
Regards,
Uma.
