You will have an excellent opportunity to apply the science of protein crystallography to expedite the discovery and development of drugs to treat and cure conditions such as diabetes and obesity. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join the Structural Biology group. The primary function of the Research/Senior Research Associate will be crystallization and optimization of proteins crystals including membrane proteins with and without small molecule ligands, in preparation for data collection. Hands-on experience forming protein target: inhibitor complexes by cocrystallization or soaking protocols. Demonstrated mastery of crystal soaking, freezing, and the preparation of samples for synchrotron data collection. Experience with protein purification, protein chemistry, analysis of purity and homogeneity. This position actively interacts with a broad team of medicinal chemists, computational chemists, and biologists. The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree, or a Bachelors degree with at least three to five years of relevant industrial/academic research experience in a high throughput structural biology environment as applied to structure based drug discovery. The ideal candidate will also have experience in protein crystallization utilizing both manual and automated systems. Capability of working on multiple projects simultaneously and organize his/her workload so as to meet deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
