Hi Breland,

No, physical characteristics must be the same. For example:

!--- Forced fa0/24 to 'speed 10'
Fa0/23 connected trunk a-full a-100
10/100BaseTX
Fa0/24 connected trunk a-full 10
10/100BaseTX

SW1(config-if)#int fa0/23
SW1(config-if)#channel-group 2 mode on
Creating a port-channel interface Port-channel 2

*Mar 1 00:38:44.684: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Port-channel2, changed
state to up
*Mar 1 00:38:45.691: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface
Port-channel2, changed state to up

SW1(config-if)#int fa0/24
SW1(config-if)#channel-group 2 mode on

*Mar 1 00:38:52.049: %EC-5-CANNOT_BUNDLE2: Fa0/24 is not compatible with
Fa0/23 and will be suspended (speed of Fa0/24 is 10M, Fa0/23 is 100M)
*Mar 1 00:38:53.047: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface
FastEthernet0/24, changed state to down

Also, see this set of configuration guidelines:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3560/software/release/12.2_50_se/configuration/guide/swethchl.html#wp1275881

Hope that helps,
Bob
