I'd buy the 24" just for the benefit after the lab. Also, no need to stop
using PuTTY Connection Manager... you'll waste more time dealing with
individual PuTTY windows than it's worth.

My advice for screen management comes from Marko. Have 2 stacks of cascaded
windows - 1 for routers and 1 for switches. Don't change the default size of
any of the PuTTY windows. With them cascaded you can easily click on any
window and if they're in order you know which is which. This worked really
well for me in both my trips to the lab.
