The F Common Merganser and her eight offspring cruised by this morning. The merglings are nearly mom's size, and close to her colors as well. Very regal!
We still have a few Rough-Winged Swallows flitting about, sometimes even going under the dock. I looked carefully last weekend for any sign of a nest, without result. However, since we have discovered a mother mink and two adolescent offspring who are living IN the dock - elderly dock, constructed of heavy, wooden siding and filled with rocks, newer steel and wood construction 'floating' over - that would likely explain the lack of nesting birds. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
