Yesterday on our daily walk we almost stumbled over our "tame" Red-tailed hawk
again. It is a young bird who is not at all shy. We've had 6 very close
encounters
with it so far this winter. It has allowed us to walk right under it twice and
has
stayed put on food as we accidentally approached without noticing it first.
Closest
we've been is about 15 feet. It just looks at us, unfazed, until we slowly back
away. Quite a thrill.

This morning as we stepped outside we heard Bluebirds and the first Common
Grackle
and Red-winged blackbirds. The Bluebirds were in a tall tree, accompanied by a
flock
of some 50 Cedar Waxwings.

Ravens are spending a lot of time here also. We hear and see them every day.
