Dan,

backyard antennas?
I built a vertical antenna from a CB radio whip. It has low SWR as-is, so
didn’t even have to trim the length. I followed this plan, which the ARRL
links on the 10M contest page each year:
https://www.arrl.org/files/file/10M-Vertical-1995-07-QST.pdf
I am using a stage lighting tripod that stands ~ 10 -12 feet tall. I use this
“grabber” mount to attach the antenna to the top of the tripod:

I cut three pieces of stranded hookup wire for radials and attached to the
grabber at the base of the antenna, and used paracord on the ends to tie them
off to my fence, etc..
I’m not very active, but try to do the 10M contest each year. The portable
tripod mount makes this HOA-friendly.
I also have a Vibroplex 10M EFHWA, but honestly the vertical works better for
me in my situation.

Subject: [BVARC] Club meeting tonight! (What do you use for a 10 meter antenna?)
Howdy,
I am looking forward to the BVARC meeting tonight!
While studying for the General, I have grabbed up an 8-band QRP unit off eBay
for cheap. This is widely available as the uSDR uSDX+[1], in several formats.
Mine happens to be the 'white button'.
It claims coverage on 80m/60m/40m/30m/20m/17m/15m/10m. I have the generic End
Fed Half Wave from Amazon[2] and a bunch of wire. Not a lot of luck with that
so far.
Working from the shortest antenna, are there any recommendations on 10m
backyard antennas?
Have a great rest of the day!
