Hello BVARC!

The year is quickly winding down, just under 55 days left in 2024 we still
have a few big events on the calendar. This month we have the *BVARC
Elections*, with various board positions up for a vote. We hope you will
join us November 14th for the November General Meeting, where we will hold
the elections AND have another great chilli supper (see details below).
Another reminder that despite the exhaustion our hometown and the nation
have had with hurricanes, we are STILL in hurricane season until the end of
this month. The current path of hurricane Rafael is projected to miss us,
but things can change and there may still be rough weather regardless. So
do keep those batteries charged and stay on the alert. This month for Brews
with BVARC we'll be heading to a brewery on the northside of Houston; one
we've never been to before called Walking Stick Brewing Company. They look
great, and our members have given us positive reviews (thanks Matt). Hope
to see you there, or at one of our many other club gatherings this month.
Please review our November calendar below.

all events for the next 30 days should be on that calendar as well as
others as we confirm their dates.

*Brews with BVARC*
*Tuesday November 12th at 6:30pm*

This November we're heading to a new (for us) brewery called Walking Stick
Brewing Company in Houston. Their motto is "Texas beer with Rocky Mountain
roots". This brewery is located just north of the Heights in Houston. As I
often say on air, "we usually stay till they close", so don't worry
about getting there at 6:30pm if traffic will be more favorable for you to
get there at 8pm. Call us on 146.52MHz FM Simplex to let us know when
you're close and we can direct you to our table. As far as their brews they
have pilsners, saisons, porters, IPAs, and more. I'm especially looking
forward to trying their *Mountain Berry Saison*. They *do fill growlers* so
bring one if you want to fill up (I always keep one in my car in case I go
by a great brewery and want to take some home LOL). They have food on site
served by their own "Little Twiggy's" which sells bagel sandwiches if you
want a bite to eat while there. Please come on out if you can! It's always
a fun event.

general meeting is for our club elections! We have many board positions
that will be voted on this month, specifically: Vice President, Treasurer,
Corresponding Secretary, 2 Year at Large (B), and 1 Year at Large/Past
President. Don't forget that doors open at 7:00pm, and the meeting starts
at 7:30pm.There will be chilli supper prepared by our wonderful BVARC Food
Team (please send your RSVP to Scott kd5...@gmail.com or Mike n5...@att.net.).
Come on out for some chilli and elections, see you there!

*Don't forget about our GREAT nets: *
*- Stir-Crazy Net: *Weekdays (Mon-Fri) at 12 noon local time on the
wonderful 146.94 MHz repeater (PL 167.9 Hz, Offset -600kHz). I will see you
there as NCS on Wednesdays!
* - Public Service Net: *Monday nights at 8pm on the 146.94 MHz repeater.
* - Rag Chew Net: *Wednesdays at 7pm (early check-ins around 6:30pm) on
3.910 MHz (That's in the General Class portion of the 80m band so check-in
over the air if you can or listen for the telephone number at the
beginning of the net to call and check-in via phone).

That's the rundown that I have for now. Please reach out to me or any
BVARC board
member if you have any questions or concerns about our club events,
volunteering, or anything else ham radio related. We're here for you!

Thanks for being a member. Thank you for your time and 73 everybody!
