I don't know that I have an answer, other than you could hang it in a tree and use it as temporary repeater for you and your hunting buddies at the deer lease for the couple of hours the battery would last... I've never used crossband repeat on an HT.
Maybe you could use it to extend the range of your DMR handheld talking to your hotspot?

Subject: Re: [BVARC] Wouxun UV9DMATE on saleLooks like a nice radio but one question, WHY would you need or want cross band repeat on an HT? I’ve used that feature before in a RL emergency condition as well as with our work with the ’96 Paralympics but I used a mobile car radio with the 50 watts out. We were having issues with having to use the full power modes on the HT’s and draining the batts on them really quickly. Being able to switch to low power on the HT’s extended our “excursion” times a great deal.
Maybe someone else would have an idea where this would be handy?
Just me trying to learn 😊
