Don't discount the Alinoc DR-735 - if a nice big screen is high up on your
list.

There is also the Kenwood TM-V71A, a good option if you want to run cross
band repeat quite regularly.

That said, I like my IC-2730 (have two - one for each vehicle) and would
buy it again.

The Icom software is quite easy to use  - no need for Chirp or RT Systems.
I home-brewed my cable quite easily.
