The radio is Part 90 Certified for Land Mobile Radio Service. This includes 421 - 512 Mhz. As of Jan 1, 2013 all radios in this service are now required to operate using Narrow Band FM which it does as well, so it should be able to operate on that frequency.
Main Trading Co,'s web site states that the radio operates in this range. <http://www.mtcradio.com/wouxun-kg-uv6d-v2-dual-band-vhf-uhf-199-channel-han dheld-commercial-radio-w-2-5-step/> http://www.mtcradio.com/wouxun-kg-uv6d-v2-dual-band-vhf-uhf-199-channel-hand held-commercial-radio-w-2-5-step/ I suggest a call to them, as they are the largest distributor. Also try Ken Mirabella of Powerwerx <http://www.powerwerx.com/> http://www.powerwerx.com/ One of the reviews on eham.net claimed that he bought one unblocked but so far none of the comments I have read indicate that the UV-6D can be modified to run above 450Mhz Wouxon makes a commercial version of that radio, the UV6X, which will go to 520 Mhz. but it looks like the UV6D will not. 73, Ron, K5HM [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> <http://www.qrz.com/db/k5hm> www.qrz.com/db/k5hm From: BVARC [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bruce via BVARC Sent: Tuesday, September 02, 2014 12:00 AM To: Randy Pugh; BRAZOS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Subject: Re: [BVARC] Wouxun KG-UV6D unlock you know that using them on business bands without the radio being type accepted for that service is illegal. even if you have a license for that frequency. 73...bruce On 9/1/2014 11:26 PM, Randy Pugh via BVARC wrote: How does one unlock the Wouxun radio Model KG-UV6D-V2 for vhf transmit outside the amateur bands?
