Hello Gavin, All,

Following up after the call yesterday - I spoke to Karolina (our Head of
Cloud @ Polidea) and Daniel (our DevOps) and we would be happy to help the
ASF Infrastructure to setup, maintain and learn about management of the
Kubernetes cluster. Daniel works as a DevOps and we do quite a lot of stuff
with Kubernetes.
We also have quite an experience in Polidea with a number of DevOps'y
things - both on-premise and cloud, as you might recall - we've already
helped in the Apache Beam Infra project to setup Jenkins and GitHub Actions
and we are volunteering to help the ASF Infra with anything
Kubernetes-related. I will be involved as well and if needed we can pull in
other people from Polidea who have various experiences.

I believe - from the last meeting - I've heard several areas you might need
some help with:

* setting up on-prem Kubernetes (and working out best practices/helping you
to get the knowledge, set up long term management/maintenance process)
* possibly setting up Cloud Stack instance for you
https://cloudstack.apache.org/ - sounds like good candidate to implement
the above :).
* or maybe even (that's my forward thinking0 combining it with some cloud
offering to have extra flexibility and be able to choose (here Kubernetes +
Anthos comes to mind immediately)

Part of our daily job is to help our customers with more "traditional"
experiences and mindset to transition to the more "modern" approach - and
we are happy to volunteer quite some time of our people to help with that.

Would that be of interest to you?

If yes - maybe we can think about asynchronously brainstorming in some
shared document (including all people involved - from Cloudstack and other
projects) and try to work out a small, incremental deliverable that we can
try it out and see if our help will be actually helpful for the infra team?

WDYT? Others? How about a collaborative effort on that :)?

J.
