In acpi.c there is a 100,000 microsecond delay within acpi_reset .
Further down in acpi_write_pmreg
there is the following loop:
retry = (retry + 1) % 100000;

100k microseconds = 1/10 second 
1/10 second * 100k retries = 10,000 seconds which is pretty close to 2 hours 47 
min.

I’m an infant crawling around this code and don’t know if these particular 
fragments above are related to the boot freeze. However if the commit to acpi.c 
on July 14 (revision 1.434) to set PCI power state somehow triggers a similar 
delay and retry loop trying to reach PCI bus zero (the entry following the 
frozen sd0 line in dmesg) that takes 2 hr 47 min to reach could this account 
for what was observed?
