Boot Freeze on Macbooks is not indefinite.  Upon trying Jan 6 snapshot
I discovered waiting 2 hours and 47 minutes sysupgrade does proceed
past the previously noted sd0:  freeze.  I suspect had I waited longer
the previous upgrades would have worked as well.  However even after
upgrading each time system boots there is a 2 hour and 47 minute
freeze at sd0: before proceeding past that point.  Perhaps this will
be a clue that points to the cause and a potential solution.
