qtparted popped up an error while I was running it. The following message printed on the command line:
-------- A bug has been detected in GNU Parted. Refer to the web site of parted http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html for more informations of what could be useful for bug submitting! Please email a bug report to bug-parted@gnu.org containing at least the version (1.7.1) and the following message: Assertion (disk != NULL) at ../../libparted/disk.c:1319 in function ped_disk_next_partition() failed. Error: Unable to satisfy all constraints on the partition. A bug has been detected in GNU Parted. Please email a bug report to bug-parted@gnu.org containing at least the version (1.7.1) and the following message: Assertion (!disk->update_mode) at ../../libparted/disk.c:400 in function ped_disk_destroy() failed. -------- The failure happened right after I started qtparted (sudo qtparted), when I clicked on the device /dev/sda (that's the only disk listed). The error seems to happen every time I use qtparted. However, before I installed Solaris on my system, qtparted was working fine. My syslog has some info about my disk (printed at boot time): -------- May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] SCSI device sda: 231496650 512-byte hdwr sectors (118526 MB) May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] sda: Write Protect is off May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] sda: Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] SCSI device sda: write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] SCSI device sda: 231496650 512-byte hdwr sectors (118526 MB) May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] sda: Write Protect is off May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] sda: Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] SCSI device sda: write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.000000] sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4 < sda5 sda6 > May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.068000] sda3: <solaris: [s0] sda7 [s1] sda8 [s2] sda9 [s7] sda10 > May 17 19:16:27 cdoersch-laptop kernel: [ 5.068000] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sda -------- and fdisk says: -------- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 118.5 GB, 118526284800 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14410 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 3922 31503433+ 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda2 3923 6794 23069340 83 Linux /dev/sda3 * 6795 9666 23069340 bf Solaris /dev/sda4 9667 14409 38098147+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/sda5 14345 14409 522112+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda6 9667 14344 37575972 83 Linux Partition table entries are not in disk order -------- Nothing is written to my syslog when the qtparted error happens.
