The launcher is best, definitely. I didn't know how to make a url launcher. I think it'd be best only to have one launcher for quickstart chapter. Lilypond.org is something everyone will remember without a link.
What is git-cl? I can't find it with a locate command. Putting the lily-git.tcl in a /home/$USER/bin/ is easy. Anything in the user's bin should automatically be in the $PATH.
