You're right, the 'do' head does invert. But you've got them upside down.
The stem
should be attached to the base of the figure, to the wider line.
Confusing this is that Walker's stems only point up when he needs to do so
to show
flags. Quarter notes never do. Only eigth and sixteenth notes stems when
absolutely
necessary.
