Sorry; I suppose what I posted might appear to be somewhat of a tease, but I assure you I'm not hiding a special version of LilyPond under a bushel. :) As Graham said, the version has been bumped in the Git repository, and I'm running the latest version compiled from source on Ubuntu Hardy (via Wubi on Windows XP). I just amended ottava-bracket.cc with your changes, then recompiled. If you like, I'll send a patch with your changes to -devel, though I can't guarantee that it will be approved - there may well be a good reason why the left edge height is hard-coded to zero which isn't obvious from a quick test.
