Over here, it normally returns directly, because the FONTS\ directory
is write protected, and fc-cache doesn't do anything.
I'm logged in as an administrator and it seems that I have write access
in the directory, no matter how I set attrib. Still, fc-cache doesn't do
anything.
How future proof is the other solution you proposed, namely to download
your fonts.cache-1 and install it? I'm afraid this file might cause troubles
with future LilyPond versions unless I happen to remember to remove it
by hand.
tried calling fc-cache.exe without the full path. Then it at least did
something, but after a while it complained about not being able to find
Files\LilyPond\usr\share\guile\8.50, so there is some problem with
spaces in the search path.
that looks a typo from you. it could be guile\1.8 or ghostscript\8.50
I did copy it by hand last time, the exact message is indeed:
C:\WINDOWS\Fonts>fc-cache
ERROR: In procedure open-file:
ERROR: No such file or directory: "Files\\LilyPond\\usr\\share\\guile\\8.50"
However, I realize now that it tries to run fc-cache.scm instead of
fc-cache.exe.
When I call it with "fc-cache.exe" I will of course get the same result
as when
I call it with full path, i.e. nothing seems to happen.
