Many thanks -- I tried this with the latest 2.6 version and it worked as expected. I do have one more report for you: I'm not sure if it's a bug, because I'm not absolutely certain what is and isn't valid notation. \relative c''' { <f a>2 <e g>4. <g b>8~ | << { <g b>1~ | <g b> } \\ { r2. r8 <d, g> | r8 <d g> r <d g>8~ <d g>2 } >> } Some of the rests for the second melody appear up on the ledger lines, while others appear low on the stave. As I say, I'm not sure if this is valid or not, but at the very least it makes the line quite hard to read. This was with Lily 2.6.3.
