A hurd developer is working on fixing this. Part of the "fun" was to do it using Guix. So, for the time being, I’ll stick to using the Hurd in a childhurd (<https://guix.gnu.org/en/blog/2020/childhurds-and-substitutes/>). But thanks for letting me know about the CrossInstall!
